MIAMI IN MAY

During the pandemic, Miami attracted newcomers drawn to its beaches, low taxes, and year-round warmth. This influx sparked a business boom, bringing new restaurants and art to the city. However, locals point to rising rents and cultural shifts as signs of "New Yorkification."

Michelin-starred Boia De, a 27-seat restaurant in Buena Vista helmed by chefs Luciana Giangrandi and Alex Meyer, serves creative Tuscan-inspired small plates.

The culinary scene evolved further with Major Food Group's expansion from Manhattan. After visiting in early 2020, partner Jeff Zalaznick recognized the potential to elevate Miami's dining scene. The group launched several high-end venues: Carbone Miami brings Sinatra-era elegance to South Beach, Ha Salon offers Tel Aviv-style dining, Sadelle's serves luxury brunch, and the Dirty French Steakhouse showcases opulent décor and premium cuts, including the $275 Wagyu Tomahawk.

Now, with the upcoming Miami Grand Prix May 2 - 4, 2025 at the Miami International Autodrome, there are many more culinary options to explore. Try Shingo Miami, a Michelin-starred omakase experience.

Shingo is truly a gem hidden in plain sight (so hidden, the door is literally behind a curtain). After serving as the executive chef of Michelin-starred restaurant Hiden, Chef Shingo Akikuni opened his 14-seat omakase in Coral Gables.

It’s all in the details at Shingo. The ceramic plates are from Kyoto. And central to the whole experience, the Hinoki sushi counter was hand-crafted from a single slab of wood, literally assembled and brought over from Japan. The 18-course menu consists of traditional Japanese nigiri, seasonal sashimi, and Yakimono dishes.

And above all, enjoy the company.

Happy Holidays everyone, see you all soon in Berlin , London, Milan and more spots to come, eagerly awaiting the never overrated European summer.
