FROM ART TO BARS

Currently the Art Basel Paris 2024 is held at the renovated Grand Palais. With 195 galleries from 42 countries, it showcases diverse modern and contemporary art. The fair features three sectors: Galeries (20th-century pioneers), Emergence (younger artists), and Premise (pre-1900 art).

Paris hosts satellite exhibitions and collaborations with institutions like the Louvre and Centre Pompidou. A highlight is the public program curated with Miu Miu, offering artistic interventions across venues. The event has seen impressive sales, including multimillion-dollar works by Julie Mehretu and Lucio Fontana.

Last year, Micha Pycke and Albane Paret bought an apartment in Ostend, transforming it into a unique space that's part gallery, part overnight accommodation. The couple, who own the arts and design agency Club Paradis, filled the 1,000-square-foot two-bedroom with curated works from their favorite artists and designers.

The eighth-floor apartment in a '60s building overlooks the North Sea and showcases pieces like a fox-patterned rug by Christoph Hefti, and a copper-colored tapestry by Rooms Studio. Most items are for sale, with Pycke and Paret offering direct connections to designers for interested guests. Rates from about $305 a night,

One Italian tradition she’s embraced is the evening aperitivo hour—a time for connecting with others over a glass (or three) of wine and recommends her favorite spot in Milan: For a true local experience, head to Bar Paradiso in Porta Romana in Milan. You’re likely to bump into familiar faces there! Their natural wine selection is superb—Nadine’s top pick? The orange wine.
